Kerner, M.D., is a distinguished leader of the San Francisco medical community and former chief of obstetrics, gynecology and reproductive sciences at Mount Zion Medical Center, and a University of California San Francisco clinical professor of obstetrics and gynecology. Dr. Kerner was one of seven American WWII veterans awarded the French Legion of Honor by French president Nicolas Sarkozy at the home of the U.S. French ambassador in Washington D.C., November 2007. On 8 September of 2012, Dr. Kerner was inducted into the 35th Division's Hall of Fame which includes Harry S Truman and three Medal of Honor recipients. Dr. Kerner lives in San Francisco, California. He is the author of COMBAT MEDIC and A COMBAT MEDIC COMES HOME.
